NATO is strengthening and increasing its nuclear potential, which it can use in a potential conflict against Russia. This was announced on March 4 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"Thus, there is a significant strengthening and build—up of the NATO-wide nuclear potential, which, in the event of a direct military conflict with Russia, can be coordinated against our country not only in part of the relevant European segment, but also in its entirety, including the US arsenal," the diplomat said at a briefing.

According to her, France's statements about building up its nuclear potential are a hostile step that destabilizes the development of events.

Zakharova added that Moscow does not accept attempts by London and Paris to deny data from Russia's Foreign Intelligence Services about plans by Britain and France to transfer nuclear weapons to Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on March 3 that the risk of nuclear nonproliferation problems getting out of control is currently growing. At the same time, Lavrov recalled the words of French President Emmanuel Macron about Paris' intention to use nuclear weapons to protect its interests, including outside the country.
