Russian striker Kirill Kaprizov has set a historic achievement by becoming the best sniper of the Minnesota Wild club in the National Hockey League (NHL).
In the home match in St. Paul, Minnesota confidently defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning with a score of 5:1 (1:0, 2:1, 2:0). Defenseman Brock Faber (4th minute), forward Mats Zucarello (25th minute), forward Yakov Trenin (38th minute), who scored goals after a mistake by Tampa goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevsky, as well as defensemen Quinn Hughes (47th minute) and Kaprizov (57th minute).
Striker Nikita Kucherov scored the only goal for the guests (36). With his 220th goal in the league, Kaprizov broke the club record for goals in the regular season, which previously belonged to Slovak striker Marian Gaborik (219).
The Russian was recognized as the first star of the meeting. He is currently the leader of his team with 75 points (35 goals + 40 assists). At the same time, Nikita Kucherov holds the third place in the list of the NHL's top scorers with 96 points (32 goals + 64 assists).
At the moment, Minnesota is third in the Central Division with 82 points, while Tampa (80 points), which suffered its third defeat in a row, remains the leader of the Atlantic Division.
On February 5, Kaprizov reached 70 points in overtime of his team's away game with the Nashville Predators during the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season. At the same time, the Russian from the Minnesota Wild took second place after Nikita Kucherov from HC Tampa Bay Lightning (90 (29+61) points in the list of the top Russian scorers in the NHL season.
