Political analyst Kuznik called the attack on Iran beneficial for Trump
It was beneficial for US President Donald Trump that the war in Iran began at the end of February. Peter Kuznik, an American political scientist and professor of the Department of History at the American University in Washington, told Izvestia on March 4.
"You know, it wasn't a sudden decision, although it was beneficial for Trump in terms of timing," the expert said.
Kuznik identified three key internal problems of the United States, which, in his words, make the outbreak of conflict during this period especially timely for the American leader. The main one, he called the situation with the publication of documents concerning the controversial financier Jeffrey Epstein. According to the expert, immediately after publication, a significant part of the information related to Trump disappeared from the materials.
"Secondly, the US Supreme Court ruled against the tariffs, which were the basis of Trump's economic policy. Thirdly, his approval rating was at a historic low," Peter Kuznik listed the factors.
At the same time, the expert stressed that the operation itself had been prepared by the US military for a long time and was not a spontaneous decision, despite the successfully coincidental external circumstances.
