Russia and China opposed the American work program of the UN Security Council

Russia and China jointly opposed the adoption of the work program of the American presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in March 2026. This was announced on March 3 in the Telegram channel of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the organization.

"We were forced to take this step due to the fact that the draft document prepared by the United States included a briefing by the 1737 Security Council Committee on "sanctions" against Iran, whose work was allegedly resumed in September 2025 as a result of the launch by Great Britain, France and Germany of the mechanism for restoring the effect of anti-Iranian Security Council resolutions (the so-called "snapback")," the diplomats explained.
