French President Emmanuel Macron has officially confirmed the decision to send the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the Mediterranean Sea. The politician stated this on March 3 during an address to the nation in connection with the escalation in the Middle East.

"I have given the order to send the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and its strike group to the Mediterranean Sea," he said.
