The expert named the conditions for the growth of the Russian automotive market

Without a significant expansion of government support measures for the automotive industry, it is difficult to turn the market towards a positive direction. This was announced on March 3 by Alexey Kalitsev, Chairman of the Committee of Automobile Manufacturers.

In his opinion, it is necessary to include more models in the list for taxis and various measures to stimulate demand. In the near future, only highly localized producers will be successful in the middle price segment, Kalitsev noted.

According to the Association of European Businesses (AEB), total sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in February 2026 amounted to 75,472 units, which is 6% less than sales in February last year.

The expectation of changes in the recycling fee for cars imported from the EAEU countries, the entry into force of the law on taxi localization had little effect on the market, the expert noted. However, he admitted that these factors could affect sales in March.

The day before, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the domestic car market grew by 7% in January-February compared to the same period last year. Sales volumes of equipment manufactured in Russia exceeded 108 thousand units. Sales of new imported cars decreased by 20%, to 74.1 thousand units.
