On March 3, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs published recommendations to Russian citizens in connection with tensions in the Middle East.

"We strongly recommend that you refrain from traveling to the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia for tourist purposes until active hostilities cease and the situation with air traffic and airports fully normalizes," the ministry's website says.

They called on Russians in the region to take increased personal security measures, refrain from visiting potentially dangerous areas, follow instructions from local authorities, and keep in touch with tour operators and air carriers.

Earlier that day, the first flight with Russians from Dubai landed in Novosibirsk. Passengers said that the flight was calm.

According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), as of March 1, there were about 50 thousand Russian tourists in the UAE. This is the largest number of Russian citizens among the countries of the region. So, there were only about 1 thousand Russians in Qatar, about 700 in Oman, and about 300 in Bahrain.

The airports of Dubai, the largest city in the UAE, have suspended their operations indefinitely due to the escalation of the conflict between Israel, the United States and Iran. However, on March 2, the Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi sent the first plane since the beginning of the day.
