Russia is studying the issue of the activities of the "Peace Council" on the Gaza Strip, initiated by US President Donald Trump, and is holding appropriate consultations with its closest partners. This was announced on March 3 by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Alimov.

"We are considering this issue, we are consulting, we continue to monitor, we are considering the issue of the activities of the Peace Council, not the issue of joining. We are consulting with our closest partners, as we did at the very beginning," Alimov said during a speech at the Russia Today International Multimedia Press Center.

The diplomat noted that Moscow also analyzes the current situation and monitors the position of other states, calling it diverse. At the same time, he stressed that the work of the site is currently unpredictable.

"Let's see how it will work on gas. There are estimates that what is desired is somewhat mistaken for reality," Alimov said.

On March 3, Kirill Logvinov, Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Russian Foreign Ministry, expressed doubts about the charter and mandate of the "Peace Council", established at the initiative of the United States: it raises questions about coexistence with the United Nations (UN) and the UN Security Council (UNSC). The diplomat added that representatives of the Russian Federation did not participate in the meeting of the "Peace Council" in Washington on February 19 and did not attend the inauguration on January 22, although they received invitations.

On January 22, Trump announced that the charter of the "Peace Council" was signed by many world leaders who did not participate in the signing ceremony in Davos. He stressed that the Peace Council would not be useless, as its future work had a practical focus. In total, about 60 countries have received invitations to join the organization.
