Diplomatic tools should and can be used in the conflict in the Middle East. This was stated on March 3 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the air of RBC Radio.

"These efforts are underway. We assume that there is no other alternative. And what other alternative can be offered in this case? I say again: we have heard everything, we have seen everything, but at the same time we proceed from the fact that there are tools that should and can be used," she said.

Speaking about the US and Israeli military operation against Iran, Zakharova noted that Vladimir Putin is working with colleagues in the region, and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is also conducting a dialogue. Russian diplomats are negotiating on international platforms, at the UN and the IAEA.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on the same day that Russian President Vladimir Putin was making every effort to defuse tensions in the Middle East. Peskov added that Putin would convey to his Iranian colleagues his deep concern about the attacks on their infrastructure, taking advantage of the opportunities for dialogue that is maintained with the Iranian leadership.

On March 3, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced Russia's readiness to negotiate a diplomatic settlement of the conflict. The Minister noted that all the concerns expressed by Israeli partners and the United States can and should be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic methods.
