In Ust-Ilimsk (Irkutsk region), an 82-year-old pensioner lost about 1 million rubles due to a fraudster. The elderly man believed that he was communicating with the investigator.
According to the victim, he received a call from a stranger who offered to buy drugs for joints. The pensioner agreed and paid for a parcel worth 25.5 thousand rubles at the post office. After a while, he was contacted by a woman who introduced herself as an investigator. She stated that the purchased dietary supplements were life-threatening, and the victim was allegedly compensated in the amount of 9 million rubles. IrkutskMedia news agency writes about this.
The pensioner agreed to pay for the services of a lawyer and court costs. He made a number of transfers to the accounts indicated by the scammers.
The criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud").
In the Sakhalin region, police detained an 18-year-old girl who is suspected of complicity with telephone fraudsters. She received money from an elderly couple and had to transport them to Khabarovsk.
