Mark Podolsky, an auto expert and professional racer, told what drivers should do when they get into an "icy mess" on the roads.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Tuesday, March 3, he called the current season especially dangerous because of the abundance of snow. The expert noted that March is a particularly treacherous period for drivers, as an imperceptible ice crust can form on the road in the morning and evening. According to him, at this time it is important to look at the situation more broadly than usual and be prepared for the unexpected.

He stressed that driving should be treated as carefully as possible, even if the driver has extensive experience. Podolsky said that in recent weeks, serious accidents have occurred in the Moscow region, when even professional drivers lost control on slippery roads. He explained that in the event of a skid, the main thing is not to panic and not to brake abruptly, but to try to minimize the consequences: if the car drifts into the oncoming lane, it is better to steer it into a ditch and slow down while maintaining composure.

Speaking about changing tires, the expert advised not to rush and take into account unstable weather, not focusing only on calendar spring.

On February 20, expert Alexander Lytkin urged drivers to use winter fluids and high-quality tires in snowy weather. In addition, you should have a basic winter kit in the trunk, which will help you wait out the bad weather. 360.ru .

On February 19, auto expert Alexander Kornev warned about the risks of washing a car in the cold. He explained that the paintwork suffers from a sudden transition from frost to a warm room, especially if heated water is used.

On February 13, car expert Evgeny Balabas said that ice on the doors could damage the paint on the car. When opening the door or lifting the hood, in some cases, body parts can be damaged, RT clarifies.

On February 7, auto expert Nikita Rodionov said that drivers should use a cover or cape to protect them from ice and snow. They prevent the formation of a crust, shorten the warm-up time and save fuel. An alternative may be professional protective compounds that reduce the adhesion of ice to the surface, the website writes. kp.ru .

Earlier, expert Sergey Nikolaev warned against the danger of ice at the bottom of puddles during a thaw. According to him, it is better to avoid driving behind heavy trucks. The expert also recommends that you move from row to row as little as possible, NSN notes.
