Izvestia's cartoonist Yefimov predicted the events in Iran with his illustrations
Izvestia cartoonist Boris Yefimov predicted the beginning of an operation in the Middle East against Iran with his illustrations half a century ago.
In his illustrations, the cartoonist also depicted events from American politics, which featured interference, a change of power, and a new wave of tension in the United States.
At the same time, his satire has now become a warning. For example, a 1979 cartoon titled "The Pentagon's Risky Swim in the Persian Gulf" even looks "prophetic." This image shows the hero of the painting — a man with glasses, a rocket in his mouth and a cap with the inscription "USA", who reminds many of the American leader Donald Trump, where the same features, silhouette and "demonstrative determination" are captured. The story itself changes names, but as Yefimov showed, the script remains the same.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin was making every effort to defuse tensions in the Middle East.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation in Iran. The American president called her goal the protection of the American people. Israel and the United States have carried out numerous attacks on military and civilian targets in Iran, including a school in the city of Minab. The largest Iranian cities, including Tehran, were hit. The Supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has died.
In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4 and attacked American military bases in the Middle East, as well as Israeli cities. Tehran is attacking the Persian Gulf countries. According to the Red Crescent, at least 555 people were killed in Iran itself due to Israeli and US strikes.
