- The premiere of the ironic detective story "Private Life" took place at the Strastnoy Theater
On March 2, the world premiere of the elegant detective story with ironic humor and impeccable style "Private Life" starring two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster took place at the Strastnoy Theater. The film will be released in Russia on March 19, 2026 by the film distribution company Pro: Vzglyad. After the screening, a discussion took place with the participation of film critic Egor Moskvitin, actress Svetlana Kamynina and film therapist Irina Gross.
The Lumisfera project, concerts of symphonic music surrounded by thousands of candles, was responsible for the atmosphere of the evening. Before the show, the foyer of the theater was filled with the sounds of cello and keyboards from musicians Mikhail Zvonnikov and Mikhail Balashov, who performed classical and modern works with soulful sensitivity and skill, as well as the exquisite semi-darkness of candles. The first to watch the film were theater and cinema stars, filmmakers and socialites. The premiere was attended by Irina Khakamada, Ekaterina Klimova, Karen Arutyunov, Masha Zaitseva, Olga Kabo, Vladimir Marconi, Yulia Khlynina, Alexander Mizev, Olga Sutulova, Konstantin Andrikopoulos, Maria Fedorova, Danila Krasnov, Larisa Verbitskaya, Alexander Enbert, Alika Smekhova, Arina Sharapova, Ilona Gaishun, Elena Nikolaeva, Ekaterina Andreeva, Aram Vardevanyan, Anna Savranskaya, Stasia Tolstaya, Grigory Kalinin, Alexey Rozin, Maria Lisova, Mark Kondratiev and others.
Tatiana Dolzhenko (Director of the Pro:view company): "The film is certainly in a trend of growing demand, when, according to statistics, one in three Russians already has experience of contacting a psychotherapist. As we know, there is a real boom in Russia at the moment, fueled by the high-profile premieres of TV series (“Trigger”, “Psycho”, “Mediator”) and the upcoming “Love Yourself Tenderly”, and Freud is a cult figure. We believe that the plot outline of "a psychoanalyst investigating the murder of a patient" is destined to attract a lot of attention and interest from the viewer."
Nikita Vladimirov (director of the Theater on Strastnoy): "The atmosphere of the evening is incredible. I believe that our joint work with Pro:vzglyad turned out to be very successful. The film keeps you in suspense until the very end. It's a very decent painting."
"Private Life" is an elegant detective story with ironic humor and impeccable style, in which the audience's favorite Jodie Foster returns to the role of a detective after her iconic roles in "The Silence of the Lambs" and "True Detective". This time, she plays a psychoanalyst who decides to investigate the mysterious death of her patient. The dynamic investigation gradually turns into a game with the viewer, who, together with the heroine, collects evidence, doubts the versions and delves deeper into the mystery and unraveling of private life.
The film combines Hitchcockian suspense, genre play and detective excitement with subtle psychology and gentle self-irony. Zlotowsky balances intrigue, melancholy and comedic observation, creating a rare tone of intonation — thoughtful, light and at the same time mischievous. The intonation of "Private Life" is closest to Woody Allen's ironic detectives - the same formula: the intellectual heroine conducts her own investigation in a beautiful city, getting into absurd situations.
