On March 3, US President Donald Trump sharply criticized the previous administration's financial policy towards Ukraine on the Truth Social network and called President Volodymyr Zelensky "Ukrainian Phineas Taylor Barnum," drawing a parallel with the famous American entrepreneur and founder of a traveling circus.

According to Trump, Barnum had the talent to "sell anything," regardless of the quality of the product. The US leader accused former President Joe Biden of irrationally spending public funds and transferring a huge amount of modern weapons to Ukraine without adequately replenishing the United States' own arsenals.

"Sleepy (former US President) Joe Biden spent all his time and money in our country, giving everything to the Ukrainian F.T. Barnum (Zelensky!). Hundreds of billions of dollars. And even though he gave away so many (Weapons. — Ed.) of super high quality (for free!), he didn't bother to replace it," Trump wrote.
