By the end of the second round of negotiations with Iran on the nuclear deal, American negotiators had concluded that it was impossible to reach an agreement. This was announced on March 2 by special envoy of the American president Steve Witkoff in an interview with Fox News channel.

He noted that after that, a third round of negotiations was held, the purpose of which was to give Iran a "last chance."

"We went there, we tried to make a fair deal with them. And it was quite clear that this was impossible, probably by the end of the second meeting. But then we came back to meet for the third time, just to give them one last chance," Witkoff said.
