State Duma deputies have drafted a bill officially prohibiting airlines from raising ticket prices 72 hours before departure, Izvestia has the text of the document.

"The draft law proposes to supplement Article 64 of the Air Code of the Russian Federation with a norm according to which a change in tariffs by carriers, entailing an increase in the carriage fee under a passenger's air transportation contract concluded less than 72 hours before departure, is not allowed if the new fee exceeds the tariff previously established on this flight," the explanatory note says.

According to the deputies, the initiative will prevent an unjustified increase in ticket prices on the eve of departure. As a result, Russians who are forced to make urgent trips will be able to avoid unnecessary flight expenses. The bill is expected to enter into force on September 1, 2026.

On February 28, an unscheduled inspection was launched at the Russian charter airline Azur Air against the background of flight delays, the corresponding requirement was issued by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation at the request of Rostransnadzor. The screening events will last until March 5th. During them, experts will assess compliance with the requirements of aviation regulations, as well as determine whether there are systemic problems affecting flight safety and passenger service quality.
