The Danish authorities are not preparing for the reception and deployment of nuclear weapons. This was announced to Izvestia on March 2 at the Russian Embassy in Copenhagen.

"Preparations for the reception and deployment of nuclear weapons by Copenhagen are not underway. There are no solutions in this regard. In addition, none of the nuclear powers has expressed interest in using Danish territory to deploy their nuclear weapons," the diplomats said.

For the past 70 years, Denmark has maintained a policy of not deploying nuclear weapons on its territory in peacetime. However, today experts and individual leaders of political parties are questioning the relevance of such previously unshakable attitudes.

"Attempts are being made to launch a nationwide discussion on the creation of a "European nuclear umbrella" independent of the United States and the possible role of Denmark in this process. However, it is premature to talk about changes in Danish policy on nuclear weapons issues," the diplomatic mission stressed.

Earlier, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said he was open to discussing the issue of co-financing nuclear programs or storing nuclear weapons in the kingdom.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced on January 27 that Copenhagen does not rule out a possible revision of the 1951 defense agreement with Washington, according to which the United States could build its military bases in Greenland. She added that the events of the past few weeks, during which talks about the desire of the head of the White House, Donald Trump, to conquer the Danish semi-autonomous unit escalated, demonstrated the disappearance of the old world order.
