- Cyprus expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the United Kingdom with bases on the island
A spokesman for the Government of Cyprus, Konstantinos Letimbiotis, expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the British government. He made such a statement on March 2 after today's meeting of the Council of Ministers.
"After the incident, we coordinated our actions with the British government and the administration of the British bases. All steps will be taken to express our dissatisfaction with both the way to resolve this issue and the fact that the population of the British bases has not been informed about the Iranian attacks," Letimbiotis said, quoted by the Cyprus Mail newspaper.
He noted that initially the British bases were not supposed to be used for a military operation against Iran, but then London abruptly changed its mind without giving clear explanations.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation in Iran. US President Donald Trump called it the goal of protecting the American people. Israel and the United States have carried out numerous attacks on military and civilian targets in Iran, including a school in the city of Minab. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were hit. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has died.
In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4 and attacked American military bases in the Middle East, as well as Israeli cities. Tehran is attacking the Persian Gulf countries. On the night of March 1-2, UAVs of unknown origin attacked British military bases in Cyprus twice.
