Political scientist-foreign agent Shulman sentenced in absentia for 1 year
The magistrate of the 384th precinct of the Meshchansky district of Moscow sentenced in absentia political scientist Ekaterina Shulman (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent, included in the list of terrorists and extremists) to one year in prison for evading the duties of a foreign agent. This was announced on March 2 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
"The court imposed a sentence of one year of imprisonment to be served in a general regime colony with a ban on the administration of its information resources for a period of three years," the judge announced the decision.
According to the case file, Shulman, acting as a foreign agent, was twice brought to administrative responsibility for intentionally distributing materials without appropriate labeling.
On the same day, the state prosecution requested in absentia that Shulman be found guilty and given a year and 11 months in prison, as well as a three-year ban on website administration. The criminal case was considered in the general order in the absence of the accused, who is wanted.
The Interior Ministry put Shulman on the wanted list in March 2025. In 2022, she was added to the list of foreign agents by decision of the Ministry of Justice. The reason was her anti-Russian position. In November 2025, the political scientist was added to the list of terrorists and extremists in Russia.
