A criminal case into the death of Latvian basketball player Janis Timma has not been opened in Russia and Latvia. Lawyer Tatiana Stukalova informed Izvestia about this on March 2.

Today, a court hearing was also held on the division of jointly acquired property with Timma's ex-wife, singer Anna Sedokova. The relatives of the deceased are demanding from her a share in an apartment with a market value of 150 million rubles in Moscow.

The plaintiffs in the case were the athlete's parents, Raitis and Ausma Timma, as well as his first wife, Sana Osha. They appealed to the court with a demand to share their jointly acquired property with Sedokova. This became known on February 16 from court materials that were published on the portal of the courts of general jurisdiction of the city of Moscow.

In August, it was reported that Timma's family intends to file a lawsuit to challenge his prenuptial agreement with Sedokova. Gavrilova explained that if Timma's family manages to recognize the prenuptial agreement with Sedokova as invalid or void, they will be able to challenge the deals concluded on its basis. In this case, the singer may be charged for the sold apartments, and she will be obliged to return part or all of their value.

On the night of December 17, 2024, Anna Sedokova's ex-husband, basketball player Yanis Timma, committed suicide in a hostel in the center of Moscow. The athlete was 32 years old. A note with the text "Call Anna" and the singer's phone number was found next to the man's body. Timma committed suicide after Sedokova's birthday. Just a week before the tragedy, the couple had gone through a difficult divorce. On social media, Timma stated that Sedokova allegedly exchanged their love for money and that he did not want to live anymore.
