Businessman and former senator of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Umar Dzhabrailov was in a difficult situation and had problems with money. His lawyer Alexander Karabanov informed Izvestia about this on March 2.

"At one time, he lost financial stability and administrative resources, and could not come to terms with this reality," Karabanov said.

Later, Izvestia acquired surveillance cameras from the elite residential complex where Dzhabrailov committed suicide. The published footage shows Dzhabrailov leaving his apartment shortly before the tragedy. The businessman got into a taxi at home and left, and a couple of hours later returned and committed suicide around 1:00 Moscow time.
