Iran tried to attack the base, which is located near the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. The aerial targets were intercepted. This was reported on March 2 by Al Arabiya TV channel with reference to the representative of the Ministry of Defense Turki al-Maliki.

"Saudi Arabia intercepted two drones targeting the Ras Tanura oil refinery in the east of the country," he said.

The publication adds that Ras Tanura is one of the world's largest oil refining and export complexes. Al-Maliki said that the falling debris of the drones caused a small fire.

Saudi Arabia condemned the attack on its territory and neighboring countries, stressing that it reserves the right to defend itself and respond.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation in Iran. Trump called her goal the protection of the American people. As part of the Israeli-American Operation Lion's Roar, military installations in western Iran, the residence of the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as an elementary school in the city of Minab were hit.

In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4 and attacked American military bases in the Middle East, as well as Israeli cities. Later, on March 1, it became known that the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed as a result of Israeli attacks. An interim governing council has been established in the country.
