X5 announced the opening of an anniversary cooperative store in Tatarstan
The 1000th CO-op ABOUT store was opened by X5 in the village of Dubyazy in the Vysokogorsky district of Tatarstan as part of a strategic partnership with the Central Union for the modernization of cooperative trade, the retailer's press service reported.
The ceremony was attended by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Dmitry Zubov, Chairman of the Council of the Central Union, and Vladimir Salakhutdinov, First Deputy General Director of X5.
"The opening of the thousandth CO-OP store is not just an anniversary, but a symbol of common success. The project became possible due to the unity of understanding of the tasks of rural development on the part of government and business. Tatarstan systematically supports cooperation, and federal retail is ready to invest even in remote areas," Dmitry Zubov said.
The agreement on strategic partnership between Centrosoyuz and X5 was signed in November 2024. By the end of 2027, X5 will invest 1 billion rubles in the modernization of 1,000 cooperative stores. Currently, points in 17 regions of Russia are connected to the project.
"X5 considers support for small and medium-sized businesses as the basis for regional development. The "ABOUT" franchise is an effective tool for the growth of rural stores. In Tatarstan, the project has special prospects due to the systematic support of consumer cooperation. By the end of the year, X5 will provide equipment for the reconstruction of more than 500 Tatpotrebsoyuz stores," said Igor Pletnev, Managing Director of ABOUT.
"We highly appreciate the cooperation with the Central Union and federal retail. The opening of modern stores in remote settlements improves the quality of life of citizens and supports consumer cooperation. We will support this direction," said Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan.
