French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barraud confirmed that a drone had attacked a national naval facility in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) the day before. He stated this at a press conference in Paris on March 2.

"Yesterday, the hangar of our naval base in the Emirates was hit by a drone attack targeting the port of Abu Dhabi. Fortunately, the damage was only material and limited," he said.

According to him, there were no casualties as a result of the strike. The French side is in contact with the UAE authorities and continues to assess the consequences. The facility continues to function, and staff safety is ensured.

Barro also said that the unilateral intervention of Israel and the United States in Iran deserved a preliminary discussion in the UN Security Council. In addition, the French Foreign Minister expressed full support for the Persian Gulf countries that have become targets of shelling: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Jordan.

On the eve it became known that France is transferring the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and its strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean amid the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. It was clarified that the aircraft carrier had previously participated in Orion-26 military maneuvers.

On February 28, Florian Philippot, the leader of the French right-wing Patriots party, predicted a catastrophe due to an attack on Iran in the long term. Philippot called on the French leadership to make maximum diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation in the Middle East.
