The criminal case of the foreign agent Morgenstern was sent to court
The criminal case against the rapper Alisher Morgenstern (included in the register of foreign agents in the Russian Federation) has been sent to court. This was reported on March 2 on the website of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office.
The artist is charged under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evading the duties of a foreign agent").
According to investigators, despite two administrative fines during the year for violating the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent, Morgenstern continued to publish materials on social networks without appropriate labeling.
The criminal case was initiated based on the results of a prosecutor's check. Since the accused is wanted, the trial will be held in absentia, the report says.
On December 28 last year, the Federal Tax Service billed Morgenstern for more than 584 thousand rubles. The new debt appeared a few days after the repayment of the previous debt.
The Russian Ministry of Justice added the artist to the register of foreign agents on May 6, 2022. Morgenstern posted political materials aimed "at forming a negative opinion among society on conducting politics in Russia."
On September 8, 2024, a case was opened against the artist under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evading duties provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents"). On October 11, the Moscow City Court ruled the musician's fine in this case lawful.
