The demand for trips to China for the New Year increased by more than 40%
Russians began to travel to China more often to celebrate the Chinese New Year: the number of hotels booked increased by 42%, and the number of air tickets purchased increased by 55%. This was told to Izvestia on February 27 by experts from the OneTwoTrip travel planning service, who analyzed hotel and airline reservations from February 17 to March 2.
This year, tourists began to spend more time in China: the average length of stay was 2.5 days compared to 2 days a year earlier. In addition, the budget for accommodation has also increased — to an average of 12.7 thousand rubles per day, which is 1.4 thousand rubles more than last year. According to experts, Russians booked hotels in Shanghai most often — the city accounted for 40.2% of bookings, and its share increased by 37% over the year.
"The city offers tourists the maximum choice of entertainment: a state—of-the-art business center, ancient temples, many shopping malls, and one of the best Disneylands in the world," the experts said.
Beijing came in second place with 29.9% of bookings, Guangzhou took the third place with a share of 12.4% — the popularity of this city increased by 41%. The top five most sought-after destinations also included Chengdu (5.2%), a famous breeding center for large pandas, and Shenzhen (4.1%), a major technological center of the country. A year earlier, instead of Shenzhen, Wuhan was in the top 5, experts concluded.
According to OneTwoTrip experts, this spring Russians have increased their demand for holidays in the Sverdlovsk region and Karachay-Cherkessia. It was noted that the overall demand for accommodation remained at the level of last year, but the share of domestic trips decreased by 8% and amounted to 45%.
