In Moscow, temperature drops are expected in the coming week with frequent transitions through the zero mark, which will lead to the formation of ice. Alexander Shuvalov, a weather forecaster, meteorologist, climatologist, and head of the Meteo forecasting center, told Izvestia on March 2.

According to the expert, changeable weather is expected in Moscow this week with frequent temperature changes over the zero mark. At the beginning of the week, the air will warm up to +2 degrees. It is expected to drop to -3 degrees on Wednesday. On Thursday, it will snow and rain again, the temperature will rise to +2 degrees. By Friday, a cooling down to -3 degrees is forecast again.

"So the most important danger this week for Muscovites is ice, which will be observed quite often when the temperature goes down through 0 degrees," said Shuvalov.

Nikolay Tereshonok, head of the Meteorology and Climate Department of the Central Directorate for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, said on February 22 that the winter of 2026, which broke records in terms of snow levels, could be a consequence of global warming.
