A Russian tourist told about the postponement of flights from Dubai to Russia
On March 2, Russian tourist Vladimir Dronov told Izvestia about the postponement of flights from Dubai amid the situation in the Middle East.
"Our tour operator <...> undertakes and guarantees that he will extend the tour for us at his own expense. <...> We have to leave on the 3rd, too, we have a small child, they can also prolong everything for so long. I hope everything will get better," said Dronov.
Vladimir Dronov said that for some tourists who were supposed to fly to Russia on March 1, the flight was postponed to March 4 and 10.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation in Iran. US President Donald Trump called it the goal of "protecting the American people."
In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4 and attacked American military bases in the Middle East, as well as Israeli cities. The UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman and other Persian Gulf countries were affected by the Iranian attacks.
Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) closed their airspace on February 28. Later, the Kuwait Civil Aviation Authority announced the temporary closure of the airspace. In addition, flights were banned over Syria.
Airports in Dubai, the largest city in the United Arab Emirates, suspended operations indefinitely later that day due to the escalating conflict between Israel, the United States and Iran. Aeroflot cancelled all its flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi at that time. This measure was extended until March 3.
