- The head of the IDF General Staff approved further plans for the operation against Iran
Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir summed up the results of the first day of the military operation, stating significant achievements and the continuation of the active phase of hostilities. This is reported in the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
"We are completing the first day of the operation — we started it suddenly, with great force and with very significant achievements that influenced the development of the operation and its outcome. We can already say that what we achieved at the beginning will affect our final result," Zaire is quoted as saying in the publication.
According to him, Israel is monitoring the situation in other areas and intends to respond harshly to any threats.
On March 1, the Magen David Adom ambulance service reported that nine people were killed as a result of an Iranian missile strike in the city of Beit Shemesh, and about 20 others were injured. The IDF reported that search and rescue services, as well as medical teams and a helicopter for the evacuation of victims, continue to work at the site of the rocket crash.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation in Iran. US President Donald Trump called it the goal of "protecting the American people." Israel and the United States have carried out numerous attacks on military and civilian targets in Iran, including a school in the city of Minab.
In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4 and attacked American military bases in the Middle East, as well as Israeli cities. The UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman and other Persian Gulf countries were affected by the Iranian attacks.
Ron Bousso, a Reuters energy columnist, said earlier in the day that the US and Israeli strikes on Iran had plunged the oil market into the biggest crisis in recent decades, and if the conflict did not stop, oil prices would rise sharply on March 2.
