Six high-ranking officers of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were killed as a result of rocket fire from Iran, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported on March 1.

"According to information received, a day earlier, during a missile attack, one of the CIA officers' residences in the UAE was hit. As a result, six high—ranking CIA officers were killed and two were injured," the article says.

Information that the CIA headquarters in the UAE was subjected to rocket fire from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) appeared the day before.

The New York Times newspaper, citing sources, reported that the CIA had been tracking the movements of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for several months. The article notes that the United States and Israel decided to adjust the timing of the attack, partly to take advantage of new intelligence.

The death of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei became known earlier in the day. Against this background, rallies began in the country. The Iraqi government has declared three days of mourning after Khamenei's death. Meanwhile, the Fars news agency reported that Iran attempted to attack the CIA headquarters in Dubai.

On February 28, the United States announced the start of a large-scale military operation with Israel against Iran. The Israeli and American military attacked the republic, including a school in the city of Minab.

In response, Tehran has fired missiles and drones at American military bases located in the Middle East. Explosions also occurred in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
