A rocket landed in the port of Abu Dhabi next to the German cruise ship Mein Schiff 4, owned by the TUI concern. This was reported on March 1 by the Bild newspaper, citing eyewitnesses.

There are about 3,500 passengers and crew members on board the ship, which is forced to remain in the port of Zayed due to the conflict over Iran.

As passengers told the newspaper, they heard a "loud explosion in the immediate vicinity" of the liner.

"At about 4:30 p.m., we received an emergency alert on our mobile phones, and we were ordered to immediately assemble at the ship's theater," one of the tourists said.

Another passenger added that the liner's crew told passengers to avoid windows and stay calm.

According to Bild, there is an extremely tense atmosphere on board.

"Many passengers, including a large number of families with children, are gradually losing their composure: panic, tears, fear of new blows. And no one knows how or when we will get out of here," the guest of the liner describes the situation.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Russian tourists were stuck on cruise ships in the ports of Dubai and Doha, it became known earlier in the day. Three ships — MSC Euribia, Celestyal Discovery and Aroya — have been at the port of Dubai since Saturday, February 28. Another ship, the Celestyal Journey, is in the port of Doha, the capital of Qatar. Vacationers post messages from ship crews on social media. They notify tourists that the vessels must remain in ports until further notice to local authorities.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation in Iran. US President Donald Trump called it the goal of "protecting the American people." Israel and the United States have carried out numerous attacks on military and civilian targets in Iran, including a school in the city of Minab.

In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4 and attacked American military bases in the Middle East, as well as Israeli cities. The UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman and other Persian Gulf countries were affected by the Iranian attacks.

Later, on March 1, it became known that the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed as a result of Israeli attacks. The Iranian government has declared national mourning. An interim governing council has been established in the country. Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian has vowed to avenge Khamenei's death. Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences over the death of the Iranian leader and condemned the assassination.
