The interim Governing Council, which takes over the administration of Iran, began its work after the death of the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This was announced on March 1 by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
"Based on Article 111 of the Constitution, the interim governing Council has begun its work today. With God's help, we will continue the path of the Imam (the highest spiritual title in Islam. — Ed.), the path of dear leader [Khamenei] and the path of all seekers of truth in the world," he said, the broadcast was published on the Telegram channel of the IRIB State Television and Radio Company.
Peseshkian called Khamenei a great fighter, and the United States and Israel criminals who are responsible for the tragedy for the whole of Iran. He called on the people to unite and "thwart the plans" of Washington and Jerusalem, stressing that the Iranian armed forces (AF) will destroy American and Israeli military bases.
"Pray that God will not let us be ashamed in front of all the people of our country who are dear to our hearts and that we can become righteous followers on the path of truth and justice," Peseshkian concluded.
