There are currently 500 Russian citizens on the list for leaving Iran through the territory of Azerbaijan. The Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan announced this on March 1 in its Telegram channel.
The diplomatic mission noted that they provide assistance to compatriots leaving Iran through the border checkpoint in Astara.
The diplomats also expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for its assistance and prompt consideration of the issue of border crossing permits.
The press service of the Turpomosch association earlier told Izvestia that the majority of Russian tourists who find themselves in the Middle East's acute zone are in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait.
