Sobyanin summed up the results of the first three years of BKL's work

Opened three years ago, the Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line of the Moscow Metro (BCL) has become the longest metro ring in the world. The new infrastructure project connected 34 districts of the city, including those where previously there were no metro stations, and formed dozens of new routes and transfers, significantly changing the system of urban mobility. The mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, told about this in his channel in the MACH messenger.

"The longest metro ring in the world was built in record time — in just 10 years," the mayor noted.

BCL has combined all the radial metro lines, the Moscow Central Diameters and the Moscow Central Ring, creating a unified transport network of the city. Due to the launch of the line on other sections of the metro, passenger traffic has decreased to 23%, and residents save up to 45 minutes on the way every day.

The emergence of new direct connections between the districts has dramatically reduced travel time: for example, a trip from Nagatinsky Zaton to Tekstilshchikov now takes only five minutes without transfers instead of the previous hour; from Pechatnikov to Kashirskaya — ten minutes instead of thirty‑five; and the route from the station Grazhdanskaya MCD-2 to Lefortovo, previously absent altogether, now available in half an hour. Convenient trajectories have also appeared between neighboring districts — the path from Aviamotornaya to Elektrozavodskaya is seven minutes.

Today, the BKL is one of the most sought-after lines of the Moscow metro: over 1.6 million trips are made on it on working days. The project was the result of the large-scale work of hundreds of specialists and a significant achievement of domestic metro construction and architecture. As part of the creation of the line, innovative technologies and engineering solutions were used, which formed the basis for subsequent projects for the development of the urban transport network.
