A picture with a Zulfikar sword was posted on Ali Khamenei's Facebook page
The image of a sword with flames belonging to the Prophet Muhammad was posted on the official page of the Supreme leader (Rahbar) of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Sunday, March 1, shortly after the statement by US President Donald Trump about the alleged death of the head of state.
The publication features an image of the first Shiite Imam Ali, holding in his hand a red—hot double-bladed sword - the famous "Zulfikar", which, according to legend, was bequeathed to him by the Prophet himself. According to legend, this sword is endowed with supernatural power and serves as a defender of Muslim lands from external threats.
The picture is accompanied by the caption "In the name of Nami Haider (peace be upon him)."
Israel attacked Iran on the morning of February 28. Trump also announced the start of a US military operation against Iran. Military installations in western Iran, the residence of the country's supreme leader, as well as an elementary school in the city of Minab were hit.
Later, Iran fired rockets towards Israel. Four US military bases in Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, as well as the US Fifth Fleet service center, were attacked. At the same time, the IDF launched a massive airstrike on military installations in western Iran.
Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation around Iran with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned the "unprovoked armed attack" by the United States and Israel on Iran.
Trump had already claimed earlier in the day that Khamenei was dead. In addition, the Reuters news agency, citing a senior Israeli official, had previously reported that the supreme leader had died at the age of 87. The Kan State Television and Radio company also wrote that an Israeli source had confirmed Khamenei's death.
At the same time, earlier that day there had already been a wave of reports in the Israeli information field about the elimination of the Iranian leader, none of them were confirmed.
Israeli Channel 9 reported on February 29 that Israel allegedly had a picture of the body of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, but the Iranian side did not confirm the fact of his death.
