The Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Iran continues to operate normally, the strikes of Israel and the United States have not affected it. This was announced on February 28 by the press service of the Rosatom State Corporation.

"At the moment, the Bushehr NPP site in Iran <...> continues to operate normally, the military operation in the region has not affected its activities," the report says.

It is noted that Rosatom ensures safety for all employees of the plant and their family members.

Prior to that, it was reported that two facilities were attacked in the city of Bushehr, where the Bushehr NPP is located. The cities of Urmia and Garmdar in the north-west of the country were also attacked.

Earlier in the day, Alexey Likhachev, CEO of the state corporation, said that Rosatom was taking measures to ensure the safety of employees at the Bushehr NPP. He noted that the employees remaining at the NPP construction site or in the residential area are safe. A small group of people working in Tehran is concentrated on the territory of the Russian embassy.

At the same time, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that no radiological effects had been recorded at Iran's nuclear power facilities as a result of Israeli and US strikes. The agency called on the parties to the conflict to exercise restraint when striking, as damage to nuclear facilities threatens the entire population of the Middle East.

Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran on the morning of February 28. Also, the American leader Donald Trump announced the beginning of a US military operation against Iran. Military installations in western Iran, the residence of the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as an elementary school in the city of Minab were hit.

Later, Iran fired rockets towards Israel. The US Fifth Fleet maintenance center was shelled in Bahrain. In addition, Iran attacked four US military bases in Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Against this background, the United States began evacuating some personnel from the Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar.

Russian Leader Vladimir Putin discussed the situation around Iran with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia demands that the situation around Iran be immediately brought back to a political and diplomatic settlement. In turn, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov condemned the "unprovoked armed attack" by the United States and Israel on Iran.
