France, Germany and the United Kingdom said they had repeatedly called on Iran to curtail its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, as well as refrain from destabilizing actions in the region. A joint statement by the three countries was published on February 28 amid the worsening situation in the Middle East.

"France, Germany and the United Kingdom have constantly called on Iran <...> to end the Iranian nuclear program, ballistic missile program and refrain from destabilizing actions," the text of the appeal says.

The statement underlines the commitment of European countries to a diplomatic settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue. It is also stated that France, Germany and Britain did not participate in the US and Israeli military strikes on Iran and do not support the escalation.

On the morning of February 28, Israel launched a preemptive attack on Iran. At the same time, the US president announced the beginning of a military operation by the state against Iran. During it, military installations in western Iran, the residence of the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and an elementary school in the city of Minab were destroyed.

Subsequently, Iran sent missiles towards Israel. In addition, the US Fifth Fleet maintenance center was shelled in Bahrain. Iran also carried out an attack on four US military bases in Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Because of this, the United States began evacuating some personnel from the Al-Udeid air base in Qatar.

At the same time, the IDF launched a massive airstrike on military installations in western Iran. The strike was carried out on the city of Shiraz. In addition, 70,000 Israeli reservists have been conscripted into military service.

Russian Leader Vladimir Putin discussed the situation around Iran with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia demands that the situation around Iran be immediately brought back to a political and diplomatic settlement. In turn, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov condemned the "unprovoked armed attack" by the United States and Israel on Iran.
