The conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran may provoke a halt in shipping in the Persian Gulf and the export of oil from the Middle East for some time, independent industrial expert Leonid Khazanov expressed this opinion on February 28.

"This situation may lead <...> to the cessation of oil exports from the Middle East for some time due to ongoing hostilities," the expert commented in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran on the morning of February 28. Also, the American leader Donald Trump announced the beginning of a US military operation against Iran. Military installations in western Iran, the residence of the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as an elementary school in the city of Minab were hit.

In addition, Iran attacked four US military bases in Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
