In Podolsk, an 11-year-old boy died after the driver of a snowplow filled in a snowdrift in which the child had dug a tunnel. This was announced on February 28 by the Prosecutor's office of the Moscow region.
According to preliminary data, on the afternoon of February 27, 2026, the minor went out for a walk and did not return home. As a result of search activities on February 28, the boy's body was found in a snowdrift on Borodinskaya Street.
"During the monitoring of the video surveillance system, it was established that the child had dug a tunnel in the snow. During this period, work was carried out on this site to clear the territory of snow, the driver of the snowplow did not notice the child and filled in the snowdrift," the supervisory authority said.
Investigators have opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules during work, resulting in the death of a person"). Employees of the management company are being interrogated, and forensic examinations have been scheduled.
On January 23, the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia reported that a 10-year—old girl suffocated in a snowdrift - she was digging a tunnel in a large snowdrift, during which the upper part of the snow collapsed and blocked the exit. The child couldn't get out and died. A criminal case has been opened into the incident.
