Starting from March 1, pensions will be increased for several categories of Russians.

Starting from March 1, 2026, payments to working pensioners in Russia who leave in February will be increased. This was announced on February 28 by Alexander Safonov, a professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

"Let's imagine that a pension of 25 thousand rubles was awarded to a working pensioner in 2023. This means that from March 1, 2026 (after the termination of work in February), he will start receiving 31,664 rubles," he explained in an interview with TASS.

A raise for a February anniversary or disability is automatically awarded. The fixed payment for the insurance pension is doubled and will amount to 19,169.38 rubles starting in March. At the same time, the surcharge is set for only one reason: if it has already been received during the registration of the first group, it is not re-charged at the age of 80, added Kaplan Panes, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Taxes.

"To make a payment, you need birth certificates, a university certificate, disability documents and proof that the dependent does not have his own pension," Panes added in an interview with the Parliamentary Newspaper.

Pensioners who have disabled relatives in their care can also expect to receive an additional payment. For one dependent, it amounts to a third of the fixed payment — about 3,195 rubles, for two — about 6,390 rubles, for three — almost 9,585 rubles. The payment is assigned to both working and non-working pensioners. If dependents appeared after retirement, it is necessary to apply to the Social Fund.

In addition, citizens who quit in February will receive an increased pension starting from March 1. They will automatically have their payments recalculated, taking into account all the indexations that were missed during their work. As explained by Sergey Gavrilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Property, the recalculation is carried out from the first day of the month following the dismissal.

Senator Natalia Melnikova, former head of the Social Fund's Pskov Region office, said on February 24 that the conditions for awarding an old-age pension to working and non-working citizens do not differ, and indexation applies to both categories. According to the parliamentarian, annual indexation of insurance payments is carried out for all pensioners. Since 2025, its effect has been extended again to citizens who continue to work.
