On February 28, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, against the background of the military operation launched by the United States and Israel against Iran, offered to present the possible consequences of NATO establishing its military base in the Azov Sea.

"Now imagine that there would be a NATO base in Azov," she wrote on her Telegram channel.

Israel, as part of its joint operation with the United States, dubbed "lion's roar," launched a preemptive strike on targets in Iran on the morning of February 28. The attacked state, in turn, also fired missiles, and later hit four US military bases in Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Against this background, the United States began evacuating some personnel from the Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia demands that the situation around Iran be immediately brought back to a political and diplomatic settlement. The ministry noted that the aggressors' intentions are clear — they seek to destroy the constitutional order and destroy the leadership of the state they dislike.

At the same time, American President Donald Trump called for the overthrow of the Iranian government. He asked the Iranians to lay down their weapons and grant full immunity to the American and Israeli military. Otherwise, he explained, they would face certain death.

The Reuters news agency reported the deaths of a number of commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and some officials due to strikes on Iran. Later it was reported that as a result of what was happening, an elementary school in the south of the country in the city of Minab was destroyed. Initially, 24 dead students were reported, and later their number increased to 40.
