On February 28, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, part of the Iranian armed forces) announced a large-scale retaliatory operation against Israel.
"In response to the aggression of the insidious enemy against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the first wave of missile and UAV attacks towards Israel began," the statement said, quoted by the State Television and Radio Company of Iran.
