In the United States, 48 million people are addicted to opioids, which is almost 15% of the country's population. This was announced on February 27 by U.S. Secretary of Health Robert Kennedy Jr. on a podcast hosted by American comedian and TV host Joe Rogan.
"48 million," Kennedy replied to a corresponding question from a journalist about the number of drug addicts, a recording of the podcast was posted on Rogan's YouTube channel.
Kennedy Jr. said on February 12 that he is not afraid of germs because of his drug past. Speaking about drug addiction rehabilitation meetings, he noted that the Narcotics Anonymous group held face-to-face meetings every day even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
