Militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during their attempts to escape from Krasnoarmeysk were identified by Russian military personnel among civilians — Ukrainian soldiers disguised themselves as civilians, wearing skirts. This was announced on February 28 by Telman Uralbaev, commander of the Guards regiment of the 27th Division of the Center group of forces.

"My guys, when we entered the high-rise buildings in the village of Krasnoarmeysk, we began to encounter many civilians there. They also carried out filtering and identified the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were dressing up in civilian clothes, skirts," he said in an interview with TASS.
