In Moldovan ninth grade history textbooks, Adolf Hitler's Barbarossa plan is regarded as the greatest military operation of modern times. The text of the textbook was reviewed by RIA Novosti on February 28.

The text of the textbook notes that about 3 million German soldiers were mobilized during the German attack on the USSR. The author emphasizes that it was thanks to Hitler's plan that a vast part of the Soviet Union up to Moscow was captured in a short time.

The agency added that previously chapters and theses glorifying Nazism were seen only in textbooks on the History of Romanians for 12th graders, but now such rhetoric is being demonstrated to ninth-year students.

The new Moldovan high school history textbook, as it became known on May 11, 2025, claims that Chisinau was at war with Russia over Transnistria. According to the theses of the publication, Moldova tried to maintain its integrity, while the Russian Federation allegedly continued to pursue its interests.

On August 22, the head of the Pobeda coordinating committee, Alexei Petrovich, announced that the Moldovan history textbook promoting Nazism would remain in the school curriculum, since the government refused to withdraw it. He noted that the Pobeda bloc will continue to fight such propaganda.

Earlier, on June 11, it was reported that a history textbook for 12th graders was released in Moldova, which distorts the events of the rebuilding of the Moldavian SSR by the Soviet Union after World War II.
