On February 27, US President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered US federal agencies, including the Pentagon, to abandon the use of developments from the company Anthropic, which specializes in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) systems and the Claude program.

"I am instructing all federal agencies of the U.S. government to immediately cease any use of technology from Anthropic. We don't need them, <...> we will not do business with them again," he said in a message on Truth Social.

Trump noted that Anthropic made a "catastrophic mistake" when it tried to put pressure on the American Ministry of War. He also clarified that a six-month transition period will be set for departments that use Anthropic products at various levels. Trump demanded the company's assistance in this process and threatened consequences, including prosecution, if it did not cooperate.

The Wall Street Journal reported on February 13 that the Pentagon used the Claude AI program for an operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. A representative of Anthropic said that the company could not comment on the use of Claude in specific classified operations, adding that any use of AI must comply with strict internal rules of use.
