Sniper pairs of the 38th brigade of the 35th Army and assault groups of the Vostok group of forces destroyed firing points and stopped a counterattack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the area of a special military operation in the Zaporizhia region. This was announced on February 28 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The snipers of the 38th Brigade of the 35th Army provided cover for the assault groups, whose advance was slowed down by enemy firing points and observers. Having taken up positions, the snipers successfully neutralized these threats, which allowed the stormtroopers to break deep into the enemy's defenses and gain a foothold.

"We received the task to move to the area of contact, where the assault groups could not occupy the fortified area of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We moved out, took up a position, trained two machine gunners and two observers. <...> Our assault groups went, they entered without losses," a sniper with the call sign Phoenix told how a sniper pair ensured the advance of the assault groups.

Having occupied the stronghold, the sniper pairs continued their fire support for the assault groups holding the position. The military personnel changed their location, equipped an observation post and resumed monitoring the surrounding area.

"We were at the point, and the task came to move from it, to cover the stormtroopers who had just occupied the base. We moved, dug in, set up surveillance, noticed a group that was moving towards our stormtroopers. It was a counterattack. They reported, destroyed the target, and prevented a counterattack. At night, they tried to destroy the support base from Baba Yaga. With the help of two rifles, we destroyed the Baba Yaga," a sniper with the call sign Sedoy told about further work at the position.

The actions of the sniper pairs made it possible to hold the fortified stronghold and prevent enemy counterattacks, including using heavy attack hexacopters.

On February 27, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the crew of the SU-34 multifunctional supersonic fighter-bomber of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) had attacked the personnel and control center of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Ukrainian Armed Forces are in the area of responsibility of the Center group of forces. The aircraft struck at pre-determined coordinates using bombs equipped with a universal planning and correction module (UMPC).
