American musician Neil Sedaka has died at the age of 86.

American pianist, vocalist and songwriter Neil Sedaka has died at the age of 87. The musician's family announced this on February 27.

"Our family is shocked by the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Neil Sedaka. He was a true legend of rock and roll," the singer said in a Facebook post (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

Sedaka was born in New York in 1939. The peak of the singer and songwriter's career occurred in the 60s of the last century, when he became known for hits such as "Oh! Carol", "Laughter in the Rain" and "Breaking Up is Hard to Do". His songs have repeatedly hit the top charts.
