- Zelensky acknowledged the long-term shortage of manpower in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have been experiencing a shortage of manpower for years. This was announced on February 27 by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.
"Of course, we have a shortage, this is a long—standing phenomenon, it has been going on for more than one month and, between us, for more than one year," he said in an interview with Sky News.
According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian authorities are "mobilizing what they can" amid a shortage of manpower.
The Ukrainian edition of "Country.ua" on February 26 reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants found themselves in a difficult situation amid the beginning of the high-water season in the country. With the onset of warming and snowmelt, the water level in the rivers has already increased by 0.6–3.5 m, which has led to flooding of some territories, outbuildings and private homes.
On February 25, Russian law enforcement agencies reported that Ukrainian militants of the 1st Presidential Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were demanding their withdrawal from the front line in the Zaporizhia region due to heavy losses. According to them, the unit is suffering significant losses as a result of high-explosive aerial bomb attacks.
