On February 27, former US President Bill Clinton spoke at a hearing of the House of Representatives Oversight Committee, where he announced his innocence of the crimes of American financier Jeffrey Epstein.

"I had no idea about the crimes that Epstein was committing," CBS News quoted him as saying.

In his address, Clinton emphasized. that the contacts with the financier ended before it became known about his illegal activities. According to him, he was not aware of any illegal actions and did not commit anything reprehensible himself.

The ex-president added that knowing about such facts, he would not only have refused any trips on his plane, but would also have contacted law enforcement agencies.

Clinton also called the summoning of his wife Hillary to the committee unjustified, noting that she had never been to places associated with Epstein. He added that due to the fact that it was several years ago, he may not remember all the details, but he intends to give evidence based solely on confirmed and logically verified facts.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the testimony of Clinton's wife in the Epstein case a lie on February 27 at the Moscow—Islamabad media forum. She accused former US Secretary of State Hillary of hiding the truth about the former US president's relationship with an American financier.
